As I mentioned, I’m getting the bike from Freewheelers on Mount Hope. The base bike is a Fuji Nevada 2.0, your standard mountain bike with front suspension (which is easily turned off). Roger is putting on smooth tires, a back rack, fenders, toe clips, water bottles, and barends to make the handlebars more user friendly for long rides. And then I’ll be adding on a new seat, some lights, a horn, and maybe a bag on the front.
What Roger doesn’t know yet – I’m going to order an Xtracycle conversion kit in a couple months and ask Roger to convert my bike into a Sports Utility Bike. That’s when the bike will go from a great commuter bike to a great car-replacing bike. I’ll be able to use it to run any errand, its capacity for a passenger will make it a stylish dating machine, and carrying signs to protests on bike will no longer be a problem.
