I've been commuting on PowerGrips for a decade - by far the best solution. My favorite is that they don't mess up your work shoes. Glad to see they're still making them, even if they seem indestructible (I've moved the Grips to the third set of pedals now). Jeffy

I'm glad you like them. I love the things but most bike shops either don't know what they are or ask, "they still make those?" I guess it's all part of the disconnect between many bike shops and the commuting cyclist.

As an aside, we'll be selling powergrips through a new catalog we're launching with the next issue of Practical Pedal. It's called "the Practical and Amazing Catalog" and will feature stuff for commuters that you can't usually find at the LBS. So let me know if you have any favorite products for us to review and possibly add to the catalog.

I may give these a try. Right now I use clipless pedals on one bike (it's a recumbent, on which your feet ordinarily tend to slide down and off the pedals) and old-fashioned toe clips and straps and the others (uprights). The old clips work very well, but the tightness is not instantly adjustable with a turn of the foot as it seems to be with the Power Grips. I always try to sell people on using stuff like this - because I think it's important to prevent accidental slippage of the foot off the pedal (think of the potential crashes) and also to position the foot properly and easily over the pedal axle for efficient power transmission and comfort.

I didn't wipe out at all, which was a pleasant surprise. The first day I used them I rode 30 miles. Then I started commuting with them with no trouble at all. They feel great.

How long did it take you to get used to them? Or, in other words, how many times did you wipe out before you felt comfortable?
