Your efficiency comes more from the lower rolling resistance of the skinny high-pressure tires, your more aerodynamic seating position, and the gearing that's configured for road conditions rather than torquing through mud, up steep hills and over large singletrack obstacles. Bicycle weight, I've found, has only a marginal effect on speed. Lighter bikes seem to handle a lot better, though. Soon you'll be commuting full-time on the Nomade. Just wait. :P Heck yeah!
