Teaching the kids how to drive ...

That makes biking on Mt. Hope look like child's play!

Jason, just had to let you know I laughed out loud at this post! And I sent it to Tanya, who recently did a bike ride in that area with similar results, I do believe! (Though she may have skipped the M&M's). If you think that's fun, you should try riding in the passenger seat with your 16-year old daughter just learning to drive, on Montanye Road. Now that was a fun time! (To be fair, she did fine...but I still nearly hyper-ventilated.)

Sounds like a great ride. Work up to the Highlander... I rode it last year with a friend and I think I blew my chain heading up Rt. 32. I salvaged the chain and we finished the ride... great great fun.

I used to work in Farmington and would commute 18 miles to and from work about 1/2 way down Canandaigua lake. Rolling along the lakeshore would be fun - and then I'd climb Miller's Hill, or Westlake Rd. up to Seneca Point, which I lived atop.

Great riding in the FLakes. And 64 is a great way to get into and out of the city. I'm not so sure I'd take 5/20 across the state. I think it would beat you up with all the traffic, and heading east and west it can get steep. I've planned a few routes to my folks in Cleveland, Oh from VT, and I think I'd stick to the lakeshore for getting across the state... heading north or south when you get to the Hudson.

Keep writing and riding!
