Hi Jason,

Thanks for mentioning Trips for Kids in your post. Just to update you, we now have 58 chapters around the country. All the chapters take inner city youth on mountain bike rides and some have earn-a-bike programs. We now have a chapter in Rochester, NY. It is under the umbrella of a program called Friends Helping Friends. For more information on this program contact Andrew Stankevich fhf2004@hotmail.com.

If you would like more information on our National Trips for Kids program contact Marilyn Price info@tripsforkids.org 415-458-2986 or visit our website at http://www.tripsforkids.org We are always interested in starting new chapters and introducing more youth to bicycling.

Bike Santa here. Thanks for the kind words Joey. We indeed do have a program already set up but it's in it's infancy stages of sorts. We welcome all comers and volunteers at this time. On Sat, the 8th and 15th,we have give aways scheduled at 226 Hudson. More than enough bikes ready to go for these 2 weeks but we can always use more wrenches on both kids'and adult bikes. We've got the bikes and our number of wrenches is increasing but can always use help in a variety of ways - wrenches and non!!
Peace

I think that is a fantastic idea! And I think we might have a couple things like that already in the works too. I was lucky enough to see Santa's Bike Shop on Hudson Ave first hand this morning, and my friend Brian Killmore and I were absolutely amazed! They have a great space with a bunch of happy "elves" wrenching away, about to make a whole bunch of kids really happy with fanastic working bikes. Rochester definitely needs more stuff like that. I'd be willing to help out in any way I can. In fact, I think I might spend some time down at Santa's Bike Shop myself when I get the chance.
