The sad thing about such a product is that it will never appeal to the masses for such a price. There's no way a pre-fab body, frame, electric motor, and bicycle drive train cost near as much as they're charging. Case in point; http://blueskydsn.com/BugE_Concept.html
this has no bike drivetrain but is a three wheeled electric with better performance than the twike for less than 1/3 the cost.

Here's my modest proposal: they take out the engine/battery, cut other unnecessary weight (like removing the shell/body), get rid of the redundant third wheel, and get the price down under $1000, and... criminy! they've created a bicycle, the ultimate machine for short and long-distance (via intermodality) travel!

If they had a small back area for dogs or camping gear, took out the engine, and mass produced it so they could bring the cost down to more along the lines of $1000, I'd seriously consider a Twike. Add a Down Low Glow and a sound system to cut down on the weenie factor.

I really don't think anyone in Rochester will own one of these. I know I certainly won't. Too claustrophobic, not to mention that anyone riding in one of these will undoubtedly look like a complete weenie. Just my two cents. Don't let me ruin your twike fantasies, adam.
