Thanks for mentioning how to get books into the library!

Hey, RocBike readers, take a cue from Bruce and donate some cycling-related books to the library!

The only power I have over the collection is the same one everyone else has: Recommendation and donation. I've done both. Your turn now. Sweet talk your branch librarian.

And I had to wait my turn too. Staff do not get priority in the hold queue.

I'm glad you added the info about the updated edition...I just recently found it on Amazon as well! And please make more available in our public library system! I wasn't exaggerating when I said I waited two months to get it. Thanks!

I was next on the list for this book. It arrived at work on Friday. (I work at the Winton Branch Library.) As I was processing the holds, came upon it and thought, I wonder who ordered this? I felt a strange mixture of disappointment and delight when I found it was me.

I'm a third of the way through. Thus far, it amplifies everything I've learned in 7,500 miles of cycling Rochester's streets in the past two years. Having this book earlier would have shortened my learning curve considerably.

Even so, I'm finding useful bits throughout. Enough that I too was ready to part with $45 for a used copy on Amazon. It speaks well for the book that second-hand it's worth three times the cover price.

Happily I found the second edition has been retitled. Drop the word "Urban" from the title and the second edition, Art of Cycling, can be yours for $11.21 plus shipping.

I'll be ordering three--one for me, and two I'll donate to the library. I'm hoping I can persuade our adult librarian to make one copy available throughout the system and the other one available only from Winton Branch, so I can meet the other cyclists reading it.

Expect it to hit the shelves in a couple of weeks.

Oh, and Winton Branch has a tiny parking lot. Ride your bike when you come.

Was your photo-tag the school over on University / Andrews street? I never carry a camera, and haven't been by there in a while.
