Not what I expected (Comments: 0)

This has nothing to do with cycling, but I can’t let it pass. It’s 10:35 p.m. and I’m in the Muddy Cup coffee shop on Madison because I need to use the wi-fi. Across the table from me are three guys — different ages and races. Tattoos. Hip hop fashion. Crowded around a laptop and yelling and laughing.

The older guy with the laptop just spun it around a little and I caught a glimpse of what they’re so amped up about:

They’re watching a chess game. The guy with the laptop is hitting the spacebar and rapidly stepping though a computer chess game that lays out some famous match from days gone by.

Gotta admit, it’s the coolest surprise I’ve had in a long time.

Oh yeah, and I bought a 1957 Raleigh Sprite today from a guy in Latham. Pictures tomorrow.
