Indeed, I was wearing a helmet, as I do on the Wednesday Night Cruises, and 98% of the time I'm on the bike. That's not to say that I'm a pro-helmet extremist. I bike without a helmet:

When I forget it and I'm already more than 500 feet away from the house

On my way to the bus/train station when I'm going to travel and need to leave my bike at the station

When I'm on a weekend morning cruise with a bunch of helmet wearers and want to do my small part to balance out the nerd factor

It's finally happened! We have a helmet/no helmet discussion on RocBike. Phew! I thought we were immune from the conversation that plagues ... er ... informs every other bike blog in the universe. (Not to mention that if I know Mr. Durand, he was wearing a helmet while taking those photos.)

@pete - Helmets are a good idea, but I believe cycling at night is far safer than walking, and I wouldn't call people who walk at night without helmets on "morons."

Here's some data on bike safety. It's a few years old but it's an interesting read.

Hotness! Wish I could be in ROC glow-cruising with y'all. Alas, I am in Bristol, and my DLG hasn't arrived because fedex screwed up. Last I heard it had left connecticut and was on its way back to Cali, next stop in Salt Lake City. Stupid fedex!
