Another comment about the butterfly setup on the Safari is that it comes with grip shifters, rather than thumb shifters I usually see on butterflies.

Perhaps they are there now, or is this one different in some way?

http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10052&storeId=10053&productId=175533&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=201521&top_category=10000

I want to get these too. Don't see any bikes set up with them in the US with the exception of REI's Navaro Safari which is too stretched out for me. http://www.rei.com/product/775749

I just looked at Nashbar and these bars aren't there any more. I also looked through my digital receipts to see if I could find a part number, but I couldn't fine one. Sorry!

Did you have someone mount your gripshifters and brake levers or did you do that yourself? I really would like a handlebar set up like yours, but I am not that mechanically inclined so if it was difficult I would probably have to dish out the cash and have a shop do it for me. Any advice?

Thanks,

I like them a lot, Eric. I do like being able to lean farther forward, which is not exactly aerodynamic, but it's better than nothing. I can get quite a few hand positions and some good pulling ability when climbing hills.

How do you like the bars turned backwards? I know you have probably been told that, but I'm honestly curious. I like my trekking bars but in the normal configuration the brake levers and shifter put me in too upright of a position, maybe turning them around like you show is the answer.
