Congrats on your ride. I'd suggest a recovery drink or meal after the ride - that helps with the need for sleep afterwards. Chocolate milk works well, so does a bowl of cereal eaten as close to the finish of the ride as practical (within 15 to 30 minutes). Snacking along the route and drinking plenty helps a bunch too - replace those calories burned as best you can.
I'll be on the Adore Your City ride this Sunday. I'll be the guy in the Teal and Yellow Jersey! But seriously, I'll probably ride my white Lemond cyclocross bike (road bike with knobby tires). Go for the whole 50 - it'll be fun.

Yay, Julie! Very cool story, cool pics, and cool packet boat. Not as cool as the REAL one, but still great. And just think, when you're a hundred years old, you can ride a century!

Thanks for the congrats! (although I may need some time to adjust to the term "middle-aged"!) :-)

Congratulations on your ride, and on being 45. It's the new 44. I recently turned 45, too -- and ride a hybrid. I guess it's the bike of choice for the middle-aged.

Nothing to it right? A little soreness after pushing yourself physically, is nothing different than pro athletes experience.
