It would be a marvelous thing if the E. Henrietta Road from the 390/490 split going North past MCH down to Mt. Hope had a for real bike lane. Once you are past the canal heading South, life is good. A real bike lane and wide shoulder.
Heading north can be very hazardous. Would love to see Brighton and Rochester gov't petitioned strongly to make bike friendly. Would make much sense given the proximity of MCC, U of R, and Strong.

Hi Julie,

My UR office is just across from MCC there on E. Henrietta Road, and I've been taking the same route you described (Genesee River-->Erie Canal-->E. Henrietta) every day!... Such a nice ride.

Last week even the sidewalk was blocked off due to construction...so I ventured out among the construction cones... got a couple honks, but nothing too bad.

Thanks for the post!

Julie,

If you don't want to ride the sidewalk you can go in the south entrance (Henrietta TL Rd.)by using the S. Clinton Ave. exit of the canal. Those two roads do have heavy traffic during normal drive times.

I use this exit to go to the Regional Market off Clay Rd. during mid morning or afternoon. I like Lori's Natural Foods store plus Lee's Chinese among others.
