The first and maybe second year there was prize money parity between the pro men's and pro women's fields, and the women's race was immediately before the men's. Unfortunately, the number of women who registered and competed was a small fraction of the number of men. This is also reflected in the local GVCC training series. On a good night the women's race might start with a dozen riders. On a bad night the men's A race will start twice that number and the two B races regularly pull 40+ riders each. Women can also race with the men if they prefer. There just aren't that many women in the sport.
