Effective Cycling Road I takes about 20 hours of class/road time. No plans to teach it. I do have a book that I can loan to you that covers the material. RBC gives Street Smarts by John S. Allen to all members when joining.

I don’t want to discourage you in any way not to send the letter to Channel 10.

My experience of 30+ years of urban cycling, and being an Effective Cycling Instructor, I saw an inexperienced cyclist, who I believe, put himself in harms way.

I think the reporter could have found a better example of Zero Tolerance. That was probable the only one they could get on video.

If letters will get Channel 10 to do a more meaningful story about bicycling that is good.

Some day we will meet on the open road.

I have to say, like many who commented on Paul Dorn’s post, that the whole thing looked like a set-up to me. How else would they get such good footage?

I decided not to address that in my letter, so as to just focus on the other issues.

The officer did look back or else he would have hit the cyclist. The officer stopped not the cyclist.
