That is a great story. What are the odds of seeing a stolen bike on the street like that?

Great to hear about the good outcome!! - even though Tanya (who deserves kudos for taking command of a dicey situation) had to pay good money for her own bike (!) plus a new wheel, and Julie had to get over the loss of a fine machine by getting another fine one. Tanya's story makes me think about the controversial matter of bike registration and other means of tracking stolen bikes, e.g. by serial number. Does anybody out there know what's available to Rochesterians? I remember registering my bike many years ago with the police dept. in Niagara Falls; I even got a ca. 4"x4" black-and-white metal license plate that hung under the seat. Cool! Or so I thought at the time.
