Nice write-up, Jenn. My perspective may be skewed because I didn’t ride the full course this year, but despite the cold I didn’t think it quite met the torture level that we had a couple of years ago when it was just slightly above freezing and was raining through much of the ride. Those Sweat and Ice Century rides are always tough, and always gratifying! They’re a great way to end the road season, usually a few weeks too late :).

What’s next, you ask? I think I’m going to take my friend Rachel’s advice and try CYCLOCROSS next season. If I can suffer for over 6 hrs. in near-death conditions, I can survive a 45 minute race, right? :)

Wow! You guys never fail to amaze me. I don’t know if I wish I was that tough, or am glad I’m not ;) I guess now I know what kind of ride I have to plan to get you to come visit us in CA. I’ll focus on the “hills” for you, since it just doesn’t get down below freezing out here….

Jenn, you are awesome. Thanks for the great ride report. It *almost* made me think I’d like to try a century someday–then I remembered that’s the exhaustion of riding my first 50 mile ride times two! Have a great Thanksgiving and a fabulous FOMBA ride. Hope to see you soon.

Very nice ride report. I don’t know if I would have been able to do a ride that cold in the wide open. I have done colder rides offroad, and at least you have some cover, but on the road you are in the open and suffer even more. Well glad you had fun!!
