@Bob: You could have ridden the 45 miles three times in a row in the time it took me to do it once, so no worries about not waiting.

@Maggi: Thanks! I'll be happy to not be a repeat guest at the Hotel Subaru.

Great write-up, thank you! Next year, I think I'm going to have to see if we can open up our house a little; I don't think I approve of this "hotel Subaru" business the night before a long ride! Fatties should sleep in comfort before LiveStrong.

Bob: The Albanian guy with the beer in the SUV parked right at the finish was Ray- I did get a beer from him, but I don't think I gave any away. I remember the cross bike at the finish- parked upside down, right? I finished the century with Kirby (another Albany area rider), right behind Elden. I don't think I saw you, but then again, there were so many Fattys. What an awesome day!

triple century,
just got it.
so def. NO xtra cycle for me,
and next year - no camera bag.
I'm still walking funny (funnier than normal).

i thought about how i dropped you & lauren,
and i waited a bit at the first stop,
but man,
it was too much fun dropping serious roadies
with knobbies on the 'cross bike....

fun until i ran out of gas after the 25 miles,
then it was 20 miles of suck and hurt.

we'll rent you a road bike next year,
you'll be converted....
oh yes you will.

very well put!!
glad we made it to the ride.
the fight fuels you,
but the company makes you forget about the pain
much like life (seriously just made that up).

seriously though,
jenni - when you guys come through town look us up, all i cared about was your awesome pink tires, until i pooked around your Flickr - we could've talked omega/namaste - my aunt works in the wellness practice.

andy? was that you that gave me beer? thought you guys were from philly, albany, WTF? or am i confusing you with another beer supplier?

jennifer - YOU rock, making things happen.
it wouldn't have been so awesome without the people behind it. thanks!

@Kathleen: Thanks!

@Kirby: Great to meet you, man. Let's get a hang going...

@Jennifer: It's no Crazy-People-Riding-For-A-Thousand-Miles, or whatever it is you ride, but it was wonderful!

@Jenni: Let me know when you're in town. We can go for a ride along the Hudson. It's flat, which, other than downhill, is my favorite terrain.

Yep, your write up sounds just about right. Please please say it isn't so that they'll make it harder next year!
As I was riding I commented too that I was going to write a strongly worded letter about the hills. Ha!

I come by Albany once in a while, and you have definitely got some hills up there. Also: I learned never to take route advice in Albany from someone who doesn't ride. "Oh, it's flat that way on 20". Gargantuan rollers later, I learned 20 is in fact, the un-flat.

Anyway, maybe we'll meet up someday-

Ride report, at varying moments, was witty, eloquent, comical, sarcastic, ironical and truly moving--much luck the author's quest itself. Offering congratulations on SURVIVING this feat takes on a whole new meaning with a cause as great as this one...Kudos to Jason, Yo Albany Bob, Andy, and the rest of Team Fatty for *riding as is our lives depended on it.* You are heroes, all.

Jason - Great post, and I applaud you for doing it on the Packet Boat (great name!). I was staring at it at the start wondering which course you were going to do.

Pushing on after a bonk like that is hard but so worth it!

@100lbs: Thanks very much!

@asmathews: It was great to be there with you. Congrats on your ride!

@Julie: Never, ever again. Until next time.

@Andy: You're from Albany, too? Our Team Fatty gang should all meet up at some point. Thanks for the encouragement at the end. And yes, folks, I was passed at the end by someone who had started at the same time and then ridden 100 miles.

Several someones, in fact.

I think I passed you as I was coming in on the century loop. I was the tall sleeveless Fatty riding an old Raleigh roadie and said something to the effect of "Nice ride, Fatty!" as I went by.

The funny thing is, I'm from Albany too! Purely by chance, I also met two other guys at the finish (Ray and Kirby), and they were also from Albany. Ray also had a cooler full of good beer.

Amazing day for the Fattys. A WIN for sure.

Excellent write up of your day. I was standing next you before we rode out from the Doubletree. I can't imagine the challenge the course must have been on an Xtracycle. Great job!
